Frequently Asked Questions

What does a Director of Photography do?

A Director of Photography (DP) is responsible for the camera and lighting on a production — translating the director’s or client’s vision into the actual visual style of the piece, including camera movement, lighting, lens choice, and overall look.

Do you work as a freelance DP?

Yes. Alongside my own studio work, I take on freelance Director of Photography jobs for television shows, interviews, and brand video productions.

What types of productions do you shoot?

Commercial, corporate, television, documentary, and branded content — see the Selected Work section above for examples across each category.

Do you shoot live events?

Yes. Live event coverage is a growing part of what I do, and I bring the same production-level camera and lighting approach to live events that I bring to any other shoot.

Do you provide camera and lighting equipment?

Yes. I bring full camera and lighting packages to every production, so you don’t have to coordinate separate equipment rentals.

Do you travel for productions?

Yes. I’m based in Hanover, PA and travel regularly for productions — regionally across the East Coast and nationwide when the job calls for it.

What areas do you serve?

I’m based in Hanover, PA, serving Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York as my primary service area, with availability nationwide for productions.

Do you work solo, with a crew, or provide your own crew?

All three, depending on what the production needs. I can run a shoot as a one-man band, join your existing production crew as the DP, or — most commonly — provide a full crew and all the gear needed, giving you a true turnkey solution.

Do you offer full-service video production?

Yes, through New Style Independent Pictures, my production studio — concept, shooting, and editing handled start to finish.

Do you offer livestreaming or podcast production?

Yes. Through New Style Independent Pictures, I provide livestreaming and podcast production and shooting services, from multi-camera podcast setups to live-streamed events.

Do you offer photography services too?

Yes. Alongside video and DP work, I offer still photography for productions, events, and brands — so you can get video and photo coverage from the same shoot without bringing in a second vendor.

Do you shoot commercials and branded content?

Yes, commercials and branded content are a regular part of my DP and production work.

Do you provide a camera operator or camera crew?

Yes. I most often provide a full crew — camera operators, gaffers, and sound — along with all the gear needed, so productions get a true turnkey solution rather than having to source crew separately.

What camera systems do you typically shoot with?

I primarily shoot on Canon Cinema EOS cameras, paired with professional cinema lenses, along with lighting and sound gear matched to the production — from single-camera interviews to multi-camera broadcast setups.

Can you work with an existing production company or agency?

Yes. I regularly work as the DP within an existing production company, agency, or in-house team’s workflow — following their creative direction, shot lists, and production process rather than running my own crew.

What types of clients hire you as a DP?

Production companies, advertising and branding agencies, corporate communications and marketing teams, and nonprofits and institutions hire me as a DP — including organizations like Johns Hopkins University, U.S. Steel, Amway, and Samsung.

How can I book you as a DP?

Head to the Contact page and tell me about your production — I’ll get back to you with availability and next steps.
